📖 Lore: The Hound of the Burning Depths
When the gods abandoned the molten plains of the underworld, they left behind creatures born of rage and magma. Gravemaw was one of them — a beast carved from cooled obsidian, its veins pulsing with the last embers of divine fire.
Legends say Gravemaw was once a guardian hound of the Forge Lord — loyal, tireless, and bound to protect the gates between the living and the dead. But when the Forge Lord was slain, Gravemaw devoured his master’s dying flames, becoming something neither mortal nor divine.
Its claws can pierce steel, and its breath scorches the ground it walks on. The enormous forelimb it wields — part bone, part volcanic armor — can crush boulders in a single swing.
Every step it takes leaves a faint trail of glowing cracks, like veins of lava spreading through stone.
Though feared as a monster, some wanderers whisper that Gravemaw still guards something — a buried forge, a forgotten gate, or perhaps the ashes of its fallen master.
“When the ground rumbles but the sky stays silent — that’s Gravemaw, dragging the heat of hell behind him.”
